They're Not Enough

Though it shook me
It was a part of me
I tried to make do
As though nothing had changed
I never knew the truth
Could feed on youth

As my body aged
I realized I had to summon
The emotion I had sojourned
To make amends with myself
I called to courage
To make me brave

Often they're not enough
To finish the threat
On me and my sense of self
I had to hire a dream
To sedate
My wish to be with you
